STOP THE ARCELORMITTAL OLYMPICS ORBIT

Anish Kapoor's"Arcellor Mittal Orbit" sculpture, costing £19.1m, to be sited in the London 2012 Olympics Park, will rise 370ft above East London. It was commissioned by the Mayor of London and announced after a secret commissioning process on 30 March 2010 to be the winning design: the 5 other designs have never been publicised for the public to compare their relative merits. The Olympic Development Authority has its own Planning Committee which will meet to determine the planning application for the "Orbit" on August 24th

We the undersigned demand that the ODA Planning Committee re-run its competition for a design and this time include a serious process for widespread public involvement and consultation on whether they favour any massive structure in close proximity to the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre, and, if they do , are able to indicate which design they prefer
